Let's face it. You are not going to use your computer for just being productive. There are times you are going to want to watch a movie or maybe even go to a video rental store or kiosk and watch a movie... Who does that anymore when you can stream, right? Well, I do and therefore this is important to be able to do... for me... and maybe for you too.

If you intend on playing or recording any form of media on your Linux Box, it is necessary that the base multimedia codec packages are installed to basically play all your favorite videos with VLC.

Adobe has stopped supporting the NPAPI plugin framework and only builds Flashplayer against the PPAPI. Firefox doesn't directly support the PPAPI extensions so there is a workaround available here.
